Public Libraries Lend One Billion Titles with the Libby Reading App

Brightside Author Business Empowerment Series: Learning more about happenings at Public Libraries IN THE NEWS Accessing libraries for reading is a "joyful" antidote to inflation As public libraries continue their mission to serve their communities, a major milestone was reached for the most popular ebook, audiobook, magazine and comics app for library patrons: one billion digital books borrowed in  Libby , the library reading app. The Libby app, created by  OverDrive , is used in over 22,000 public libraries and thousands of colleges, universities, corporate libraries and learning centers. The one billionth checkout in Libby occurred on  January 21  through a member public library of the Arkansas Digital Library Consortium. New Online Bookstore Platform, Akademos

Brightside Author Alert Series: UT Southern transitioned from managing book sales through their campus store to the online bookstore platform, Akademos The  University of Tennessee  Southern, formerly known as  Martin Methodist College , was founded in 1870 and serves approximately 800 full-time students. The four-year institution officially joined the  University of Tennessee  system in 2021, making it the first new campus within the system since 1969. The institution offers over 38 areas of study and is located between  Chattanooga  and  Memphis , along  Tennessee's  southern border. UT Southern transitioned from managing book sales through their campus store to the online bookstore platform,  Akademos , to support the Fall 2022 semester. With the new online platform, students can purchase and sell their textbooks and course materials through a personalized student experience and ship them directly to themselves or to campus for easy pick-up.
