Jeffrey Page, Co-Director of 1776 Musical has Roots in Philly, Opera, and Beyoncé's Famous Moves

All through Black History Month 2023 Brightside will share news, stories and empowerment IN THE NEWS The musical "1776" kickstarts its national tour in   Philadelphia, PA , on   Thursday, February 16th   at Forrest Theater in   Center City . For the show's co-director and choreographer,   Jeffrey Page ,   Philadelphia   is a second home. Young, Black & Lit Celebrates Five-Year Anniversary with 25,000 Book-Giving Campaign and Youth Writing Contest

All Through Black History Month Brightside will share empowering stories and news  IN THE NEWS Year-Long Campaign Aims to Increase Access to Children's Books that Reflect and Affirm Black Children Young, Black & Lit  is excited to announce their five-year anniversary with the launch of  Give Big, Get LIT: Bridging the Gap Through Literacy and Storytelling  campaign, a year-long literacy campaign aimed to empower children of color through culturally diverse books. Beginning  February 15, 2023  the organization will launch a national book-giving campaign with a goal of  donating 25,000 books  and kick-off the  Young, Black & Lit Future Author  family writing contest. " I cannot believe that we are officially five years old! All through Black History Month Brightside shares stories, news to empower you IN THE NEWS Honda Battle of the Bands Returns to Celebrate HBCU Culture and Marching Band Tradition Six Historically Black Colleges and Universities marching bands  delivered  dynamic performances Rickey Smiley  and  Loni Love  hosted the event Each participating school received a  $50,000  grant from Honda for music education and career development programs Thousands of fans, students and alumni converged upon  Alabama State University  (ASU) on  Saturday, Feb. 18  to take part in the 18 th  Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase (HBOB), the nation's premiere showcase for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) marching bands and dance teams. Marking its return to a live event format for the first time since 2020, HBOB also was held for the first time on an HBCU campus, featuring spectacular performances from six marching bands representing HBCUs.
